The Zebra RFD40 mains cord opens the electrical chain of a charging post. It starts at a standard wall socket and brings current to the power brick, which takes over from there. It is the first of the three items to gather, and usually the last one anybody thinks of. It is not the same as the power cable, which comes later in the assembly, between the brick and the charging equipment.

The starting point of the assembly

A mains cord is recognised by one thing: the end that goes into the wall.

→It starts at the mains: a standard wall socket is enough, with no special installation.
→It ends at the brick: its other end feeds the power supply of the RFD40 range.
→It is not the power cable: that one comes after the brick, heading for the charging equipment.
→It stays put: an installation item, handled at assembly and then forgotten.

From the wall socket to the Zebra RFD40 power brick

Every charging post begins at the wall. Mains current comes in through this cord, reaches the RFD40 power brick that converts it, then heads on to the equipment charging the Zebra RFD40 RFID reader. Three items, three stages, in that order.

The cord holds the first. Without it nothing starts: the brick stays dead and the whole setup is inert, even with everything else correctly connected.

It is also the most discreet part of the assembly. Once run behind a counter or along a technical shelf, it disappears from view and is only touched again when a post moves.

The link everyone assumes they have

A mains cord looks like something already lying in a drawer, and that assumption is exactly what costs time. The brick and the charging equipment get ordered on the basis that a cord will turn up, and on assembly day there is none, or not the right one.

The installation then waits on the cheapest part of the chain. On a site scheduling its RFID inventory campaigns to fixed dates, that is the kind of delay that shifts a whole session for a reason nobody enjoys explaining.

The practical rule fits in one line: order the cord with the brick, never after it.

Count one cord per charging post, exactly as for the brick and the cable. A site fitting three posts across three areas needs three cords, even where the wall sockets sit close together.

Keep one or two spare. At this price level, the extra unit costs less than half a day waiting when a post moves or new equipment arrives.
