TAMPER-PROOF MARKING SOLUTION WITH SBE ANTI-THEFT FILE

Strongly deter theft and easily recover your lost equipment with SBE anti-theft marking

96% reduction in IT equipment theft and loss in businesses on average since 1992, observed across more than 1,900,000 installed SBE Anti-Theft Markings. These results speak for themselves and prove that you can start protecting your equipment effectively for less than €3 per device.

#1 ACTIVE SECURITY

THE TAMPER-PROOF PLATE

Make equipment theft too risky or pointless with anti-theft marking that no one can remove — it's literally "welded" to your office devices.

In case of theft, whether the plate is torn off (causing severe damage) or left intact, the equipment cannot be reused by a dishonest individual. If resold, the item becomes worthless.

#2 ACTIVE SECURITY

VISUAL DETERRENCE

Strongly discourage any theft attempt by clearly displaying your zero-tolerance policy through active signage. This significantly reduces almost all cases of equipment disappearance in the workplace — whether internal or external.

"EQUIPMENT PROTECTED AGAINST THEFT" is the clear statement featured on every anti-theft marking. The text clearly explains the principle of the SBE Anti-Theft File and the risks involved. The highly visible yellow and black colors are widely recognized as safety colors.

#3 ACTIVE SECURITY

SBE ANTI-THEFT FILE

Recover your equipment in the event of theft or loss thanks to a file that operates independently from your company — the permanent link between you and your device. If the item is lost or stolen, any person (individual, police, customs...) who finds it is legally required to return it immediately, or risk being charged with handling stolen goods.

SBE systematically registers the Anti-Theft Marking numbers in the SBE Anti-Theft File for the entire lifetime of the device. In case of theft or loss, SBE records and publishes the device's information on its "Red List."

Frequently Asked Questions from Our Clients

How long does the SBE anti-theft service last?
  • The service associated with SBE Anti-Theft Markings is provided for the lifetime of the marked device, with no subscription required.

  • Even if the equipment is resold, the service will follow the device, and we will record the change of ownership.

How does the SBE Anti-Theft File work?

- Upon purchase, SBE registers in its Anti-Theft File all identification numbers of the anti-theft markings, with the purpose of returning lost and recovered items to their rightful owner. Here's how the process works.

- SBE recognizes the buyer (you) as the owner of a certain number of anti-theft markings. At this stage, the buyer is free to apply the markings wherever they choose.

- In the event of an inspection or request for proof, SBE will confirm the declared ownership relationship between the unique serial number of an anti-theft marking and its registered owner — whether an individual or a company — regardless of the item it was applied to.

- Any equipment found with such a marking and identified will be presumed the property of the registered owner and must be returned to them.

- This information is stored by SBE for the entire lifetime of the device.

- Each anti-theft marking has its own unique serial number. Any attempt at falsification or fraudulent declaration will be immediately detected and rejected.

What should I do if marked equipment is lost or stolen?

- Report the incident to the nearest Police Station. You must obtain an official theft report form that is dated, signed, and stamped, and send it to us as an attachment here: SBE Red List

- Report the incident to your insurance company by providing them with a copy of your police report. We will contact you directly as soon as your equipment is found, or if we receive any positive indication regarding its whereabouts.

What should I do if I sell equipment marked with SBE Anti-Theft Tagging?

What does an SBE anti-theft marking look like?

All SBE markings clearly display the phrase "EQUIPMENT PROTECTED AGAINST THEFT," a unique identification number, and the address of one of SBE's websites. Some markings are standard and feature the SBE logo, while others are personalized with the owner’s logo. These markings are applied in a tamper-proof, permanent way to the protected devices, and any attempt to remove them leaves a clear and highly visible trace of damage on the device casing. Thanks to the unique identification number printed on each marking, we are able to return the equipment to its rightful owner.

What should you do if you find a marked device?

Have you found a device with an SBE Anti-Theft Marking?

Are you considering purchasing a device with an SBE anti-theft marking? Are you already in possession of a device showing an SBE anti-theft marking?

No matter the reason you're in contact with a device bearing an SBE anti-theft marking like the ones shown above, it means that the item is protected against theft by its rightful owner — and that the owner may currently be looking for it. The first thing to do is to check the Red List to see if the marking’s identification number appears there.

If the marking’s identification number appears on the Red List, this means the device has been officially reported stolen to both the police and the owner’s insurance provider. The item is therefore actively being searched for, and anyone in possession of it could be suspected of theft, complicity, or handling stolen goods during a police check, border control, or investigation. In such a case, keeping the device is not an option — the only reasonable solution is to return it to its rightful owner. Contact us

If the identification number is unreadable or the marking has been partially removed (only part of it remains), you can try searching the list by device description (brand, model, serial number, etc.). The best course of action is then to contact us so we can carry out further investigations and ensure it is returned to its rightful owner. Contact us

Have you just acquired a device that’s already marked?

Make sure the device is compliant (see above): the marking number MUST NOT appear on the SBE Red List.

The previous owner's contact details will still be recorded.

To benefit from all services linked to the SBE Anti-Theft Markings for the lifetime of the device, you must register as the new owner with our team here: contact us

How can I return a marked device to its rightful owner?

Whatever the circumstances, returning a marked device is always an honest and responsible action — and will likely help someone out of a very difficult situation. Even if the anti-theft marking bears the name of a large company, the reality is often more personal. Large organizations increasingly hold their employees accountable for the equipment entrusted to them, especially when it involves valuable items like laptops.

The loss of such a device is often blamed — financially or professionally — on the employee, who must then take full responsibility. Not to mention the significant amount of work stored on the device that may be lost forever if not recovered. Returning it is an act of integrity, and in the end, it's always a real person you're helping.

To return the device, the fastest way is to contact us, as we hold the contact information of all registered owners. We’ll only ask for the details you're willing to share — our only goal is to return the device to its rightful owner. You may remain anonymous if you wish. If you're in the Paris area, you can even drop off the device at our local office or send it to us at our expense. If you prefer to remain discreet, no personal information will be required.

That said, it’s not uncommon for the owner to want to thank you — and after the return, we’ll be happy to put you in touch if you agree. Contact us
