Computer Locks

Computer Locks

A standard PC case can be opened in just a few seconds with a Phillips screwdriver. Hard drives, memory modules, processors and graphics cards then become accessible to anyone with malicious intent, creating a risk of hardware theft and, above all, data leakage. The security screw provides a simple solution to this problem: replace one or two of the case's original screws with a screw featuring an exclusive drive pattern that cannot be removed without the dedicated tool.

Anti-theft screw for computer: the key points

  • Exclusive SBE pattern : rounded edges and domed head, un-undoable without the dedicated bit.
  • 1-tonne resistance : case-hardened steel, resistant to pull-out and drilling.
  • Fits like a standard screw : M4 thread, 3.5 mm diameter, into existing holes.
  • Controlled-sale bit : sold only to buying customers, which preserves the system's value.
  • Two levels : eco for a whole fleet, high-security for sensitive workstations.
  • Broad use : patch cabinet, alarm box, technical enclosure, machine control panel.

An exclusive pattern that cannot be bypassed

Our anti-theft screws fit like standard screws (M4 thread, 3.5 mm diameter) into the existing holes of most cases. The whole difference is in the head. The pattern is the exclusive property of SBE Direct: its rounded edges prevent the use of a knife or a flat screwdriver, unlike the star patterns on the market.

The domed cylindrical head prevents any grip with pliers, and the case-hardened steel resists drilling: the fixing withstands 1 tonne of pull-out. Importantly, the bit is not included in the price and its sale is strictly controlled, released only to customers who have bought our screws. These screws complement the cables and anchor plates of the desktop computer locks range.

Originally designed for computer towers and cases, the anti-theft screw suits any object fixed by standard screws: patch cabinet, alarm box, machine or lift control panel, door lock, technical enclosure. Protecting a fleet's components also acts on a rarely-quantified loss: reducing shrinkage linked to equipment theft.

Reckon from €1.63 excl. VAT for the eco screw and €3.06 for high-security, minimum order of 10 pieces, volume discounts from 50 and 100 units. The bit starts at €9.30 excl. VAT, the screwdriver at €29. From 1,000 pieces, we produce your screws to measure (M2 to M8, 5 to 100 mm, steel, stainless or titanium) with a bespoke pattern you alone hold. Anti-theft screw for computer FAQ

How many screws per case?

One or two suffice in the vast majority of cases: the aim is to lock the panel giving access to the components, not to replace all the screws. On a 100-station fleet, that is 100 to 200 screws, a very contained budget against the value protected.

What if I lose the bit?

You can buy another, but not anonymously: we require proof of a prior purchase of SBE screws. This procedure prevents a third party from obtaining the tool and neutralising your setup. Tip: keep a spare bit from the initial order.

Does the screw protect against theft of the computer itself?

No. The screw prevents opening the case and stealing the components, but does not tether the machine. To prevent removal of the tower, add an anti-theft cable or an anchor plate: two complementary devices for two risk scenarios.

Do I need an electric screwdriver or is the manual one enough?

Both work. The manual screwdriver (30 mm) suits one-off interventions. The bit for an electric screwdriver becomes more cost-effective once you kit out several dozen stations, for the deployment time saved.

Are these screws compatible with all cases?

The standard M4 format at 3.5 mm covers the vast majority of cases and many electronic devices. For a different thread or any doubt, request a free sample to check before ordering in volume.

Can we get a pattern unique to our company?

Yes, from 1,000 pieces: a screw head with a pattern of your own, whose tool no one else holds, not even other SBE customers. It is the maximum level, relevant for sensitive environments.
