What the flame-retardant welder trousers are for
The flame-retardant welder trousers protect the operator's legs, exposed to the spatter and sparks of welding.
They form the lower part of a modular outfit, paired with a suitable jacket for the task.
The treated cotton limits flame spread on contact with a spark. Workshops, maintenance and sites use them when a full coverall is not needed. They belong to the range of safety trousers and PPE from SBE Direct.
Materials, standards and care of the welder trousers
The welder trousers are made of 100 % cotton treated to limit flame spread, breathable and suited to long wear. They comply with EN ISO 11611 for welding protection and EN ISO 11612 for heat and flame, at levels A1-B1-C1-E2-F2 Class II, as well as the general standard EN 13688. Washing is done at a temperature not exceeding 40 °C to preserve the treatment. Available in sizes S to 3XL, they round out the safety wear range.
Choosing welder protection by standard
| Standard | What it covers | Benefit for the welder |
|---|---|---|
| EN ISO 11611 | Protective clothing for welding | Spatter and radiation controlled |
| EN ISO 11612 | Heat and flame | Limited flame spread |
| EN 13688 | General PPE requirements | Baseline garment compliance |
Trousers alone or coverall: building the outfit
The welder trousers fit into a modular outfit. Worn with a suitable jacket, they protect the lower body without a full one-piece garment.
For higher exposure or complete cover, the welder coverall covers the whole body in one piece.
Both share the same flame-retardant cotton and the same welding standards. Build the outfit by task and exposure level. You will find the sizes and exact references in the characteristics tab below.
