Its blue background and standardised pictogram read at a glance, day or night. Built for indoor and outdoor use, it comes in six materials and two sizes. You guide drivers and visitors straight to the right charging bay.
Electric vehicle charging point sign: what it shows and where to fit it
This sign does one job well: it makes a charging point visible and keeps a combustion vehicle from taking the bay. Here is what it offers.
- →Instant wayfinding: the pictogram points drivers to the charging bay from the car park entrance.
- →Blue mandatory background: the standardised colour code signals an instruction to follow, not a mere notice.
- →Indoor and outdoor reading: silk-screen printing withstands UV and weather for durable outdoor display.
- →Six materials: from light PVC to rigid Dibond aluminium, to suit the surface and exposure.
- →Two sizes: 100 x 100 mm for a wall or post, 200 x 200 mm for reading from a distance.
- →Photoluminescent version: the bay stays visible during a lighting failure.
- →Custom made: size and artwork adapted to your site.
Marking an EV charging bay on a company car park
On a company car park, a bay fitted with a charger must stay open to electric vehicles. A clear sign keeps a combustion vehicle from parking there and smooths turnover at busy times. Fitted at the entrance of the zone and beside each charger, it completes the floor marking.
This sign belongs to the mandatory information signs (blue) within the building signage range, built to guide and secure your premises. It mounts in minutes, on a wall, post or totem.
Materials and sizes of the EV charging sign for indoor and outdoor use
The right material depends on where you fit the sign. Indoors, PVC 1 mm is enough and stays affordable. Outdoors and exposed, Dibond aluminium (brushed, gold or white) and Plexiglas 4 mm hold up better over time. On a metal surface, magnetic vinyl repositions without drilling, while adhesive vinyl suits smooth surfaces. The photoluminescent version keeps the bay visible during a power cut.
Every sign is silk-screen printed, a process that fixes the colours for the long term, and comes in two sizes, 100 x 100 mm and 200 x 200 mm. It carries a one-year guarantee. To signpost your whole parking zone, pair it with the parking sign or the disabled parking sign.
Which charging station sign material for each environment
To pick the right material first time, match each fitting environment to the suitable option.
| Fitting environment | Recommended material | Main benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Covered car park, indoor hall | PVC 1 mm | Light and affordable |
| Outdoors, exposed to weather | Dibond aluminium or Plexiglas 4 mm | Durable against UV and rain |
| Post or metal surface | Magnetic vinyl | Fits and repositions without drilling |
| Dark or outage-prone area | Photoluminescent 1 mm | Bay visible without lighting |
Customisation and compliance of the EV charging pictogram
The charging pictogram complies with standard MFX 08003 ISO 6790/7010, so the signal is recognised and understood by everyone. If your site has specific constraints, the sign is custom made: a specific size, an extra wording line or artwork matched to your brand.
You can extend the signposting of your whole parking area with the bicycle parking sign, the compulsory direction sign and the assembly point sign. For access control on the same site, the video protection sign fits alongside. Pick the material suited to your car park, then check the size in the specifications tab.
FAQ - electric vehicle charging station sign
Is the electric vehicle charging station sign mandatory?▾
Signposting a charger is mainly a matter of safety and ease of use on a private or company car park. The sign makes the bay visible and keeps a charging space from being wrongly occupied. For the obligations specific to your site, refer to the charging-infrastructure regulations that apply.
Which material should I choose for an outdoor charging point?▾
Outdoors, go for Dibond aluminium or Plexiglas 4 mm: these materials resist UV and rain. PVC 1 mm suits indoor fitting better. For a metal post, magnetic vinyl fits without drilling.
Is a photoluminescent version available?▾
Yes. The 1 mm photoluminescent version keeps the charging bay visible during a lighting failure or in a dark area. It is a useful choice for underground car parks.
Can the EV charging sign be customised?▾
Yes, the sign is made to order: size, extra wording or artwork matched to your brand. You keep the charging signage consistent with the rest of your site signage.
