The down-arrow secure waiting point sign directs people to a secure waiting point (EAS) located on the level below. On a standardised green ISO 7010 background, its directional arrow guides people with reduced mobility towards that refuge during an evacuation. It comes in ten materials at 200 × 100 mm, for indoor as well as outdoor fitting. Hard-wearing silk-screen print, made-to-measure available.

What the down-arrow secure waiting point sign marks

It rounds out the evacuation signs (green) range with a downward directional indication.

  • Downward direction - it points to a secure waiting point on a lower level (floor below, stairs).
  • EAS pictogram + arrow - the secure waiting point symbol paired with the directional arrow.
  • Green ISO 7010 background - the colour code for evacuation and rescue devices.
  • For reduced-mobility people - it guides those with reduced mobility first.
  • Silk-screen printing - a mark resistant to oils and solvents.
  • Indoor and outdoor fitting - it copes with humidity and temperature swings.

The secure waiting point: a refuge for reduced-mobility people

A secure waiting point (EAS) is a zone sheltered from flames and smoke, where someone who cannot evacuate on their own waits for the emergency services. It concerns first and foremost people with reduced mobility and forms part of the accessibility duties of public buildings.

But everyone still has to know where to go: that is the job of this PMR evacuation signage, which traces the route to the nearest refuge. Well placed, it saves precious time when it matters most.

Down arrow: pointing to the right level

This version carries a downward directional arrow: use it when the secure waiting point is on a lower level, at the foot of stairs or a ramp. For an EAS on the floor above, choose the upward-arrow version; for a horizontal route, an evacuation arrow sign reads more clearly. The set coordinates with the assembly point sign and the emergency exit sign to mark out a whole route.

ISO 7010 secure waiting point signage: materials and fitting

secure waiting point signage for a reduced-mobility person

Compliance with ISO 7010 ensures a pictogram understood by everyone, without translation. The sign is chosen to match the surface: for ordinary indoor use, 1 or 2 mm PVC is enough; for a demanding environment, 3 mm Dibond aluminium (white, gold, brushed) and 4 mm plexiglass hold up better.

Adhesive vinyls (white, magnetic, photoluminescent) allow quick or repositionable fitting, and the photoluminescent version stays visible during a power cut. The standard size is 200 × 100 mm. This signage sits within a wider accessories and signage approach and the people security framework.

Personalise your PMR evacuation sign

Beyond the standard size, the sign can be made to measure: specific dimensions, an EAS number or a zone marker. For the full logic of safety colours and shapes, see the ISO 7010 standard guide, and prepare your artwork carefully before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

What does this sign mark?

It shows the downward direction of a secure waiting point (EAS): the refuge where people with reduced mobility wait for the emergency services during an evacuation.

When should I use the down-arrow version rather than the up-arrow one?

Choose the down arrow when the EAS is on a lower level, and the up-arrow version when it is on the floor above.

Is the sign compliant with public-building rules?

It uses the secure waiting point pictogram on a green ISO 7010 background, used to signpost EAS locations in public buildings.

Which materials and size?

Ten materials (PVC, Dibond aluminium, plexiglass, vinyls, photoluminescent) at 200 × 100 mm; made-to-measure dimensions available.

Can it be fitted outdoors?

Yes. The silk-screen print resists oils and solvents, and several materials suit outdoor fitting. The sign screws or bonds into place.
