What the kitchen sign is for in your premises
The kitchen sign grey background guides visitors and staff to the kitchen or kitchenette.
Fitted on the door or the wall beside it, it avoids hesitation in an office corridor or a shared space. Its plain grey background matches the rest of the room signage without cluttering the wall.
Offices, coworking spaces, clinics and hotels use it for clear wayfinding. It belongs to the range of signposting signs on premises from SBE Direct.
Materials and printing of the kitchen door plate
The kitchen door plate material is chosen by location. For an indoor door, PVC 1 or 2 mm stays simple and cost-effective. Near water or splashes, Plexiglas 4 mm and aluminium Dibond 3 mm clean easily and last. The photoluminescent version stays visible in a room without permanent lighting. Self-adhesive vinyl, white or magnetic, fits quickly on a flat or metal door with no drilling. Each sign is screen-printed and carries a one-year guarantee, within the wider building signage.
Choosing the kitchen sign material by location
| Location | Recommended material | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Indoor kitchen door | PVC 1 to 2 mm | Light and legible |
| Damp or splash area | Plexiglas 4 mm | Rigid, wipes clean |
| Room without light | Photoluminescent 1 mm | Stays visible without power |
| Flat wall | White vinyl 0.25 mm | Quick fitting, no drilling |
| Metal door | Magnetic vinyl 0.8 mm | Repositionable, no marks |
Rounding out room signage
A room sign is rarely used alone. Pair it with the other plates in the grey range, such as the office sign or the archive sign, to guide across the building.
Add the floor signs, such as the fourth floor sign, to orient by level. The whole set keeps the same grey background and the same standard code for consistent signage.
You will find the exact materials, formats and references in the characteristics tab below.
Kitchen sign grey background FAQ
Where should the kitchen sign be fitted?
Fit it on the kitchen door or on the wall right beside it, at eye level. A spot visible from the corridor guides without hesitation. The 200 x 60 mm format reads at close range on a room door.
Which material should I choose by room?
For a standard indoor door, PVC 1 or 2 mm is enough. Near water, Plexiglas 4 mm or aluminium Dibond clean more easily. Without permanent lighting, the photoluminescent version keeps the sign readable.
Is the kitchen sign standards-compliant?
Yes. The sign follows MFX 08003 and ISO 6790/7010, which govern symbols and premises signage. The grey background matches the code for information and wayfinding signs.
Can the kitchen sign be customised?
Yes, customisation is made to order. You can adapt the text, material or artwork to keep the kitchen in line with the rest of your premises signage.
