Where to place a no extinguishing with water sign
The no extinguishing with water sign belongs anywhere water would make a fire worse rather than put it out. Fit it first near electrical panels and cabinets, in plant rooms, server rooms and areas storing water-reactive products.
Its role is to guide the right response from the first sign of fire, before help arrives.
Set at eye level, right beside the risk, it complements the wider building signage without replacing it. For consistent cover, pair it with your prohibition and warning signs.
Fire safety signage: a standardised ISO 7010 message
The strength of this sign is its standardisation. ISO 7010 harmonises safety pictograms across Europe, so the same symbol is understood the same way whatever the country or language. On an industrial site, a warehouse or a public building, that instant readability saves valuable time in an emergency.
The sign sits within the family of people security signage that every health and safety manager keeps up to date. It belongs to the red prohibition and warning signs dedicated to fire safety instructions.
Red prohibition sign materials for each environment
The right material depends mainly on the installation site and the support. The table below points to the material best suited to each environment.
| Installation environment | Recommended material |
|---|---|
| Dry indoor area, office or corridor | PVC 1 or 2 mm |
| Outdoor, exposed to weather | Dibond aluminium |
| High-visibility requirement | Plexiglas |
| Escape route or low-light area | Photoluminescent version |
| Metal support without drilling | Magnetic vinyl |
