Tablets at school: what impact and how to secure them?

Since the national digital plan of the french gouvernment, the number of tablets and computers has increased. To store, secure and charge tablets and computers, many schools are using mobile classrooms. These charging carts also make it easy to move them around, a real advantage if the tablets are shared between teachers and classes.

The national digital plan: what is it?

The national digital plan is a plan launched in 2013 and started in 2015 which aims to equip schools with internet at the beginning and to move to E-education. In order to lighten students' schoolbags while increasing their motivation and commitment, the government wants to develop accessible and adapted educational resources. The State also finances up to 50% of the investment of schools in digital devices (tablets, computers, mobile classrooms, interactive whiteboards ...).

The government also relies on the training of teachers and staff to these tools in order to provide the best learning method to students.

Why use the tablet in the classroom?

In 2016, no less than 1,256 schools and 1,510 colleges are equipped with tablets. The tablet is a tool that makes it easier and lighter to carry knowledge.

The tablet in the classroom allows everyone to study at their own pace and ensures that the student has access to the content (no forgotten books).

The plan is to use tablets that are specific to the institution and not to the child. Indeed, this practice allows to manage the access to the Internet to the children and to avoid any distraction (running, application notifications...). The tablets in this context are considered as a working tool and not only as a game or entertainment.

What are the advantages of a tablet in the classroom?

After several months of use, teachers have seen a real improvement in teaching. Children can work at their own pace and are autonomous in their work. In addition, it opens up new educational tools that allow for more in-depth learning.

Classes that feature the use of tablets sporadically are often more popular with students and are more enthusiastic and engaged in the exercises.

It was also noted that students are more diligent about completing digital exercises and activities because they are aware that the tablet is reset when it returns to the cart and want to complete the task in the allotted time.

Although electronic devices were already available, tablets offer greater flexibility and time savings over computer rooms.

The advantages are many, the tablets are many, but the disadvantages leave the debates still open and very much alive. Many teachers see tablets as a computer work tool and understand their limitations.

What are the benefits of the cart in the classroom?

charging cart for tabletsTablets and laptops for students are a real investment for schools. While these items are good educational tools, they are also highly coveted. The loss or theft of these electronic devices not only handicaps educational institutions but also the students. Indeed, a missing tablet is equivalent to a child without a learning tool. Sharing tablets is a good option for group work, but when it comes to individual work it can be a problem.

Charging the tablets is also a challenge for this new education system. Indeed, a tablet that remains charged for too long will lose its autonomy and its efficiency.

The mobile classroom is a small piece of furniture that allows to fight against the constraints of tablets.

Indeed, the mobile classroom cart acts as a small safe with key lock or electronic lock, leaving access to electronic devices only to authorized persons. The mobile classrooms with the key lock option come with a set of 2 keys. If the media cart is shared among several classes and teachers, we recommend that you choose the electronic code lock. The code is easier to communicate but the risk of leakage is greater.

In addition, the cart is equipped with a secure door with three thick aluminum bolts: a light but very resistant cart.

When it comes to the battery, these little boxes on wheels are equipped with power sockets and power adapters so that all devices can be connected at the same time. The mobile class can be supplied with a charging timer to minimise damage to the batteries and maximise the life of the batteries. The timer is a Deltaco smart plug, connected to the app. This way, you can manage the charging time from a smartphone so that the tablets do not charge all night long. You save energy and take care of your electronic devices at the same time.

In addition, the tablet trolleys are equipped with wheels, which makes it easier to move and distribute the electronic devices.

Depending on the number of shelves you have, you can choose between our two loading trolleys:

  • the charging cart available in a model for 10 laptops or 20 tablets or the model for 20 laptops and 30 tablets.
  • the mobile classroom with 30 tablets or PCs
