SBE Asset Manager is asset inventory software delivered as a service: your teams open it in a browser, install nothing, and find every item with its location, status and history. SAM is sold as an annual subscription based on the number of registered assets, in three editions called Essential, Professional and Enterprise. Updates are included, and RFID scanning starts with the Professional edition. Use this page to match an edition to your asset base, then start with a demo.

Cloud asset management software: what each edition covers

Whatever the edition, this asset inventory software rests on the same foundation for your asset and equipment tracking, from the desk to the field:

  • Browser access: nothing to install on your machines, updates applied automatically, and sign-in from any connected device.
  • Asset record: number, category, manufacturer and model, location, title, quantity, price and condition. Custom attributes, such as a processor field for computers, extend the record (three at most in Essential).
  • Accounting depreciation: it is calculated automatically from the price entered on the record.
  • History and statuses: each asset keeps its history, and the Lost and Defective statuses set aside the equipment that needs action.
  • Assignment to resources: an item is tied to the person or resource using it.
  • Bulk consumables: items tracked by quantity are handled alongside individual assets.
  • Reports: standard inventory reports come with Essential, while advanced and custom reports start with Professional.
  • Import, export and API: you move data in and out yourself, and API access is open in all three editions.
  • Protected data: 256-bit encryption and a daily backup.

Mobile asset scanning: field teams in sync with the office

Stocktaking rarely happens at a desk. The mobile app for SAM synchronises with the software and runs on smartphones and tablets, with an internet connection. It has a built-in barcode and QR code reader: a technician scans an item without a dedicated gun, then opens its record straight away.

On site, teams log equipment going in and out, update the inventory, manage assignments and schedule servicing. Notifications flag reservations, returns and upcoming maintenance.

Whatever is entered in the field shows up in real time in the asset inventory software, so whoever runs the asset base sees movements as they happen. The mobile app is included from the Essential edition.

Identifying assets: barcode, QR code or RFID

This asset inventory software supports several identification methods, and you can mix them by equipment family. Barcodes and QR codes suit items scanned one at a time: SAM creates the codes for all your assets, and a label can carry the name, category, location, service life or next maintenance date. Format, margins and font size are adjustable, and codes already in use can be carried over. Code 39, Code 128 and QR code are supported. Code generation starts with the Professional edition.

RFID works at another scale: tags are read without direct line of sight, using handheld or fixed readers, so an RFID inventory refreshes stock without scanning each item. RFID scanning is available in the Professional and Enterprise editions, which is why SAM sits among the catalogue's RFID software. To equip a team, the Zebra TC22 terminal pairs with the Zebra RFD40 UHF RFID gun, as in the Professional RFID pack. Heavy-duty asset tags are the labels supplied in the Essential and Professional packs.

The software module follows its own rule: in Essential, one licence counts as one billable asset; in Professional, five licences count as one billable asset; in Enterprise, licences are not charged. Because each edition counts them differently, software and licence management deserves a look before you decide. Turnkey setup, training and external hardware setup are ordered separately whatever the edition. More advantageous rates apply beyond one year of commitment. Every edition runs on the same online asset inventory software: only the available functions change.

Which asset inventory software edition should I pick: Essential, Professional or Enterprise?

Start from what you do with it. Essential is enough to keep an inventory with history and depreciation. Professional adds barcode and QR code generation, RFID scanning, physical stocktakes and equipment loans and reservations. Enterprise adds cyclic stocktakes, work orders and integrations. A 30-minute demo lets you confirm the choice before subscribing.

How is the SAM subscription price worked out?

The price depends on the edition and on the number of registered assets, in steps. It is paid yearly, with updates and dedicated support included. The entry point is €997 excl. VAT per year for 1,000 assets in the Essential edition. Rates become more advantageous beyond one year.

Is RFID scanning included in every edition?

No. RFID scanning is available in the Professional and Enterprise editions, not in Essential. Reading tags requires a handheld or fixed RFID reader. The Professional RFID pack already pairs an RFD40 gun and a TC22 terminal with the licence.

Does SAM have to be installed on our computers?

No. SAM is a cloud service: you use it in a browser, on any connected device, and updates are applied without any action on your side. The mobile app extends access to smartphones and tablets. For an IT estate, the Enterprise edition adds connections with tools such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and Jamf, in the spirit of IT asset tracking.

Do software licences count towards the number of billed assets?

It depends on the edition. In Essential, one software licence counts as one billable asset. In Professional, five licences count as one billable asset. In Enterprise, licences carry no charge. An estate rich in licences therefore weighs very differently depending on the edition.

Can we try the asset inventory software before subscribing?

How is the data protected?

Data is stored encrypted, with 256-bit encryption. A backup is made every day. Because the software runs as a service, there is no database left on your own servers for you to back up.
