Security seals can also be used to seal packaging and packages containing products. Thus, any attempt to open them will be visible thanks to their VOID adhesive, which will show the break-in.

The seals guarantee the traceability of your products or equipment thanks to a unique identification number which allows their conformity to be verified by various people.

How to choose a good security seal ?

First of all, it is necessary to evaluate your needs before buying security seals, especially for the transport of products. To do so, you need to answer these questions:

- What type of goods will be protected?

The type of goods must be taken into consideration. Indeed, if the goods are rare, of high value, sought after, you should choose very high resistance security seals.

- What is the value of the goods?

The higher the value of the goods, the higher the security level. For example, electronic products, jewellery and weapons are highly sought after by thieves. It is therefore necessary to organise their transport under high security and surveillance to combat theft attempts.

- What is the mode of transport?

The mode of transport and the destination of the goods must be taken into account when purchasing your security seals. Each transport has its own risks. Moreover, the customs regulations of each country are different, it is important to respect the required security elements to avoid any problem.

- What kind of resistance is required?

It is important to choose an effective security seal according to the desired resistance. For this, it is necessary to favour security seals that respect the 17712 standard which defines the requirements relative to the resistance of seals according to 3 classes.

This document allows you to check the correspondence of the seal numbers to authorise the opening of the container or the truck. You can film the opening of the shipment to prove that the goods have been breached. If the identification numbers are not the same on your document and on the container, you risk additional transit time and a heavy fine.

What is the standard for security seals?

To know the resistance of security seals, you can comply with the ISO 17712 standard which classifies seals in 3 classes according to their degree of resistance evaluated during tests. 3 classes are defined: I (indicative), S (security) and H (high security). This procedure allows to test the capacity to leave a proof of fraud and to audit the seal manufacturers. Compliance with this standard is required for international transport so that products sent in containers are highly secure against theft attempts.
